Experience:

Commodore at Dome Marina Sailing Center, Ein Sokhna, Red Sea Egypt. October 2009 to present (2 years 4 months)

• Commodore and founder of the center and Chief sailing Instructor.
• Develop and implement the sailing courses program.
• Instruct the instructors.
• Develop, implement and report on the annual business plan, including operating costs, marketing plan.
• Control expenditures and ensure revenue streams.
• Identify opportunities and deficiencies, and initiate appropriate actions.
• Provide the Marina Owners and the Dome Marina Company Board of Directors detailed monthly and annual reports on all DMSC business activities, financial results and key statistical data.
• Develop strategic marketing and sales initiatives to ensure continued business growth.
• Manage all employees effectively and in accordance with all established policies.
• Carry out regular performance reviews and staff meetings.
• Ensure all members property and company assets are maintained, monitored and presented in a manner that is consistent with the standards of Dome Marina Sailing Center.
• Train and motivate all team members to perform and carry out their duties fully.

• Conducted Competent Crew and Day Skipper practical courses.
• Coached boat handling under sail and power.
• Briefed and preparing students to meet navigational and on-board hazards and challenges.
• Instructed passage planning and pilotage for various marinas in Spain & Morocco.
• Lead the students in victualing and provisioning the yacht.
• Debriefed the students and providing them with a plan for improvement.
• Insured proper maintenance and cleaning of the fleet.

Background

I was born and raised in Egypt. When I was 7, I started sailing dinghies on the Nile. At 18, I instructed sailing at Boston University. In 1989, while at University, I served as commodore of the Oklahoma State Sailing Club. I raced Lasers and 420s. Living inland in the USA, my sailing activity was lake cruising on sailing yachts. In 2005, I moved back to Egypt. My water sport activities are sailing and windsurfing on the Red Sea. In 2008, I founded and manage Dome Marina Sailing Center at Ain Sokhna, Egypt. (Center website)

• Over 15 years experience in management, sales and marketing.

• Effectively train, coach and mentor team members.

While attending university and after graduation, I worked in the hospitality industry. I worked in all the departments, including front desk operations, guest services and concierge, as well as in food and beverage and catering. All my work was in luxury hotels which demanded the delivery of the highest standards of service. This has afforded me a sense of appreciation and value for the finer things in life; and a delight in exceeding peoples’ expectations.
